In 2013, Cube Entertainment introduced 2Yoon as the first and only sub-group of South Korean girl group 4Minute, consisting of members Gayoon and Jiyoon. The pair, known collectively as Ssangyoon, were renamed 2Yoon due to concerns about the previous name's pronunciation and potential misinterpretations. Their debut album, Harvest Moon, was released in January 2013, accompanied by the single "24/7," which blended country music elements with K-pop's characteristic hyper-melodic electronica style. The group drew inspiration from artists like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift during recording sessions. Critics have expressed mixed opinions about 2Yoon's experimental approach. Some praised the innovative attempt to merge country music with K-pop, while others criticized various aspects such as melody, lyrics, rap style, and technique, deeming it an unsuccessful experiment. Nevertheless, 2Yoon has been recognized by foreign and domestic music magazines for their originality in releasing a country-inspired track in the K-Pop genre. The duo also made history as the first Korean girl group to be interviewed by TIME magazine and the first sub-unit of a Korean music group to be promoted in Thailand, where they performed and gave interviews. Following the expiration of contracts for 4minute, the sub-unit official disbanded on June 15, 2016 together with the main group.
