Producer and label owner A. G. Cook was born Alexander Guy Cook in London, England on August 23, 1990. The son of a British architect and Israeli architect, he studied music at Goldsmiths, University of London before forming musical duo Dux Content in 2011 with his school friend Danny L. Harle. The duo released music on A. G. Gook’s Gamsonite label before forming the PC Music label and assuming an A&R role as well as producer for this new venture. The first release under his own name was the Nu Jack Swung EP in 2013. He released his debut solo single, “Keri Baby,” in January 2014, which garnered critical praise from Dummy Magazine, Buzzfeed, and Pitchfork Media. That single was followed six months later by the single “Beautiful.” Other singles included 2015’s “Drop FM” (featuring Hannah Diamond) and “Superstar” (2016). A. G. Cook came to commercial prominence in 2017 when he began working with Charli XCX, appearing on her 2017 mixtape Number 1 Angel. That same year, he and his production work were showcased on Charli XCX’s Pop 2 mixtape. A.G. Cook became Charli XCX’s co-executive producer, working extensively on her album Charli (2019). Their critically acclaimed collaboration continued on her 2020 album How I’m Feeling Now while A. G. Cook also served as co-executive producer of the 2020 solo album from Sigur Rós’ Jónsi. A. G. Rock released his long awaited debut solo album, the seven disc release 7G, in August 2020. His second debut album, Apple, followed one month later. He continued to collaborate with other artists including Hikaru Utada while also releasing remixes from his debut albums 7G and Apple. In 2022, A. G. Cook coproduced the Grammy-nominated “All Up in Your Mind” by R&B superstar Beyoncé. In 2023, he announced that PC Music would cease to release new music at the end of that year, closing out a successful run with the release of the album Soft Rock, which was a collaboration between A. G. Cook and EASYFUN under the group name Thy Slaughter. In May 2024, A. G. Rock released the album Britpop, which included the singles “Silver Thread Golden Needle” and the title track.
