Achim Reichel

Achim Reichel (born January 28, 1944 in Wentorf near Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein) is a musician, composer and music producer from Germany. In his long musical career, Achim Reichel has dedicated himself to various musical genres. In the early 1960s, the artist celebrated his first successes as a singer in the beat band The Rattles. One of the highlights of this period was certainly a tour of England with the Rolling Stones in 1963. At the end of the 1960s, Achim Reichel was still involved in the band project Wonderland, which was produced by James Last. Achim Reichel began his solo career in the 1970s. Initially, the musician focused on psychedelic music. Bands such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk were his role models. In 1976, Achim Reichel made a radical change. He sings sea shanties on the album Dat Shanty Alb'm . Further albums followed. Stylistically, the artist increasingly moved into the field of pop music. Achim Reichel celebrates his greatest success as a solo artist to date in 1983 with the single "Der Spieler". The song remained in the Top 30 of the German charts for weeks. At the end of the 1980s, the Rattles made a brief comeback before Achim Reichel turned his attention back to sailor music. In 1991, he released the song "Aloha heja he". The song became a summer hit in the same year, reaching number 5 in Germany and is still one of the classics in Achim Reichel's repertoire today. Another highlight in his career was the two-day concert in the Fischauktionshalle Hamburg in 2003 to mark his 40th stage anniversary. After that, things became somewhat quieter for the artist. He goes on tour at irregular intervals. In 2021, Achim Reichel made it back into the German charts at number 25 with the album 71/17 Another Green Journey: Live at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. On it, he looks back once again to his psychedelic roots from the early phase of his career. Achim Reichel goes on a big farewell tour at the beginning of 2024. The album Schön war es doch - Das Abschiedskonzert is released to mark his 80th birthday.
