Adam Makowicz is a Polish jazz pianist who studied at the Chopin Conservatory of Music in Kraków where he performed in local clubs despite the disapproval of the government, which was then dominated by the Soviet Union. He performed in America in 1977 and later moved to New York and then to Toronto, Canada, where he is based. He has made recordings with several orchestras including the Warsaw Philharmonic, the National Symphony in Washington and the Royal Philharmonic in England. He has released many albums of music by composers such as Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington. Other releases include 'From My Field' (2005) and 'Indigo Bliss' (2007).
