Afric Simone embodied a certain caricature of African music in the 1970s. The Mozambican delighted television viewers with his facetiousness and acrobatics, as much as with his songs "Ramaya" and "Hafanana". His mix of African music and disco made him number one in Italy in 1975, and famous as far away as the USSR. It was in the countries of the former Eastern bloc that Afric Simone pursued his career in the 1980s. Now based in Germany, Afric Simone performs regularly in Russia, France, Italy and Lithuania.
