This collective of Mandingo singers and musicians was spurred on by French DJ and producer Frédéric Galliano, who is passionate about jazz, but above all about African music and culture. After setting up his own label, Frikyiwa, to promote and disseminate African music, he recorded Frederic Galliano & The African Divas (2002), an album mixing traditional African music and song, electronic music and jazz, and its twin, the live testimony of this adventure, Sacré Live ! (2004).
