Regional Mexican act Alacranes Musical was formed in the Chicagoan suburbs of Aurora, Illinois, in 1996. They are known for their Duranguense style, a mix of technobanda and tamborazo born in the state of Durango in the early 1990s. The band, led by Emiliano Martínez and featuring members like Oscar Urbina Jr. and Gabriel Díaz, made its debut in 1999 with the album Pa' Que Son Pasiones. Subsequent releases such as A Paso Firme in 2006, which featured a mix of polka, cumbia, and ballads, solidified their place in the music scene thanks to popular tracks like the hit single "Por tu Amor." The album topped the Billboard Regional Mexican and Top 200 charts. 2007's Ahora y Siempre brought the hit "Por Amarte Así," earning them a Latin Grammy nomination. Their 2008 album Tu Inspiración continued their success with singles like "Dame Tu Amor" and "Perdidamente Enamorado." Alacranes Musical also made headlines in 2009 with a record-breaking performance at the Houston Rodeo. Despite internal challenges leading to lineup changes, the group soldiered on, integrating new members from Chicago, who helped maintain their unique sound. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2011 with Besos de Fuego. Over the following years, Alacranes Musical continued to pay tribute to their Mexican heritage on the well-received LPs Una Nueva Era (2016), Llegamos Pa Quedarnos (2017), El Reencuentro (2020), Corazón Ranchero (2021), and Bien Machine (2023).
