Alejandra Luciana Cárdenas Pacheco, born in Lima, Peru, on September 24, 1985, is an electro composer and producer better known as Ale Hop. Based in Berlin, she applies her music to a variety of disciplines, including performance art, film soundtracks and dance shows. After making her Peruvian debut with the electro-pop group Pestaña in 2006, and then with the pop-rock outfit Las Amigas de Nadie in 2008, she went solo to develop the possibilities of the guitar, which she exploited to create electro-acoustic and electronic sounds on the albums Pangea (2015), Bodiless (2018), Apophenia (2019), The Life of Insectts (2020) and Why Is It They Say a City Like Any City? (2022), oscillating between industrial electro, ambient, tribalism, drone and psychedelic reminiscences. In 2023, she teamed up with African percussionist Laura Robles for the album Agua Dulce, before collaborating with Congolese guitarist Titi Bakorta on Mapambazuko (2025), which reached number 67 in the UK download charts.
