Injecting a dose of glamour and pizzaz into the bouncy world of Romanian dance-pop, Antonia Clara Iacobescu, known mononymously as Antonia, first stepped into the spotlight with 2009's Eurodance bop "Roses on Fire," produced by Romanian artist Tom Boxer. She reunited with Boxer again the following year for her second single, the radio-friendly club firework "Morena." Born on April 12, 1989 in Bucharest, Romania, Antonia went to music school in the US and grew up in Las Vegas and Utah, which informed aspects of her musical direction. A debut album, This Is Antonia, arrived in 2015 via Romanian label Roton, and a string of singles followed in the next few years. Romanian Top 10 single "Lubirea Mea," came out in 2017 featuring Alex Velea, and in 2019's Antonia appeared on "Trika Trika" by Australian singer and songwriter Faydee. In 2018, she was picked by 20th Century Fox to be the Romanian voice of Jeanette in the live-action movie Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. Antonia's music has blended various styles, with the Romanian star slipping into Latin pop for the "Dinero" single with Yoss Bones, and reggae-tinged pop for "Imi Placi Tu," both released in 2021.
