Antonio Zambujo

While the great voices of fado have tended to be feminine, in the wake of the immense Amália Rodrigues, Antonio Zambujo has become its masculine incarnation. The native of Beja (Alentejo) draws on his rural roots and his love of bossa nova to give fado a new lease of life. O Mesmo Fado opened the ball in 2003, followed by Por Meu Cante in 2004 and Outro Sentido in 2007. Guia, released in September 2010, marks another milestone for Antonio Zambujo, who is now moving beyond the boundaries of fado alone. Released in April 2012 in Portugal, Quinto was distributed in France in October 2012. In 2015, Antonio Zambujo declared that he was closing a cycle with his sixth album, Rua da Emenda.
