Anzen Chitai

Japanese rock band Anzen Chitai was formed in Asahikawa, Hokkaidō, Japan in 1973. The band was formed in high school under the name Invader. The band was founded by original members Koji Tamaki (vocals/guitar) and Yutaka Takezawa (guitars). Thei band’s line-up solidified in 1977 with the addition of Wataru Yahagi (guitars), Haruyoshi Rokudo (bass, keyboarfds), and Yuji Tanaka (drums). With the new lineup, the band changed their name to Anzen Chitai. Initially, they served as the back-up band for singer/songwriter Yōsui Inoue but soon began releasing their own records. They continued to back artists in the studio but soon had their first hit in 1984 with “Wine Red no Kokoro”, which reached Number 1. More hits followed including “Kanashimi ni Sayonara”, “Suki Sa” and “Natsu no Owari no Harmony” (with Inoue). Their albums included Anzen Chitai 1: Remember to Remember (1983), III – Dakishimetal (1984), and VI – Tsuki ni Nureta Futari (1988). The band took a hiatus in 1988 to pursue solo projects but returned in 1990 with VII – Yume No Miyako. Their next album, VIII – Taiyou (1991), was their final album before a decade long hiatus that lasted until 2002. After two albums, they went on hiatus again until 2009. After several more studio albums, the band celebrated their 35th Anniversary in 2017 with the compilation All-Time Best.
