AP Dhillon is a Punjabi vocalist, rapper, and producer whose collaborations with Gurinder Gill have resulted in multiple chart-topping hit singles, including "Brown Munde," "Insane," and "Desires." He was born as "Amritpal Singh Dhillon" in Gurdaspur, Punjabi, India, and attended undergraduate college in Kapurthala before relocating to Victoria, British Columbia, for post-graduate studies. Making a new base out of his Canadian home, he launched his solo career with the single "Fake" in 2019, followed by a number of "Faraar" and "Top Boy" later that year. He established a partnership with producer Gminxr in 2020, and the two worked together on a number of singles, with "Deadly" becoming AP Dhillon's first charting hit. "Deadly" reached Number 11 on the UK Asian chart and Number 4 on the UK Punjabi chart in 2020. Later that year, "Majhail" climbed to Number 1 on both charts and sparked an ongoing series of collaborations with Gurinder Gill. The two duetted on "Excuses" and "Brown Munde," both of which went to Number 1 on the UK Punjabi chart, and reached Number 3 with "Toxic." During the months leading up to the December 2020 release of his full-length debut album, Not by Chance, AP Dhillon continued releasing successful singles, with six of the album's tracks — including "Foreigns," "Saada Pyaar," "Chances," and "Goat" — reaching the Top 10. The success continued during 2021, when AP Dhillon topped the Top 100: Inde chart with "Desires," "Excuses," and "Insane." He also released his second album, Hidden Gems, during the final stretch of the year.
