Art Taylor, who died aged 65 in 1995, was a successful American jazz drummer who performed and recorded with many other top artists including Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, Sonny Clark, Arnett Cobb, Miles Davis, Benny Golson, Johnny Griffin and Jimmy Smith, and had his own band called Taylor's Wailers. He played on many albums with Gene Ammons, John Coltrane, Bud Powell, Jackie McLean, Gigi Gryce and Red Garland. His own releases include 'Taylor's Wailers' (1957), 'Taylor's Tenors' (1959), 'A.T.'s Delight' (1960), 'Mr. A.T.' (1991) and 'Wailin' at the Vanguard' (1991).
