Austin Mahone is an American singer-songwriter who was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1996. He is one of a group of young up-and-coming artists who have independently built a following for their work through self publicity on the Internet and then signed to a major label. Mahone began his music career by recording cover versions of pop songs by artists such Justin Bieber. His debut single '11:11' was released on iTunes in 2011 and in 2012 he signed to Universal Republic Records. After signing, Mahone quickly used his growing popularity to maximise commercial opportunities and signed a string of product endorsement deals including a deal to become the teen ambassador for a clothing line. Meanwhile his record label continued the relentless wave of promotion and signed him up to be an opening act for Taylor Swift's tour. Mahone released his debut studio album in 2017, a collection of 13 tracks written by a wide variety of songwriters with Mahone being listed as a co-writer.
