Dutch DJ Lodewijk Fluttert (October 8, 1991), aka Bakermat, has been a mainstay on the European charts since his debut in 2012. Deeply rooted in house music, his minimalist production style often incorporates elements from jazz, gospel, and soul. Fluttert was born in the city of Markelo and started making music at the age of 18 while attending Utrecht University. Zomer and Vandaag, his first two EPs, saw the light in 2012 as the title track from the latter entered the Top 5 in several European countries and reached the top of the charts in France. A third EP titled Uitzicht arrived in 2013, which was followed by a sold-out European tour, playing world-renowned venues such as the Olympia in Paris and London’s Brixton Academy. In 2014, he returned with the gospel-tinged single “Teach Me,” hitting Number 22 on the UK Singles Chart. Following the creation of the itinerant Bakermat’s Circus festival in 2015, Fluttert dropped the 2016 single “Games,” featuring vocalist Marie Plassard, and teamed up with British singer-songwriter Alex Clare for the track “Living,” released that same year. In subsequent years, he stuck to the single format with 2017’s “Baby” and “Don’t Want You Back,” which were followed by 2019’s “Baianá”, the first single from Bakermat’s studio debut, The Ringmaster (2020).
