Singer, songwriter and composer Bassirou Diagne, aka Bass Thioung, was born in Dakar, Senegal, on September 18, 2000. He quickly made a name for himself with his griot voice and ancestral rhythms, breathing new life into teranga and lebou music. His nickname Thioung comes from the name of a Senegalese drum. He quickly made a name for himself on platforms with his debut single "Zeuzeul Love" (2018). The artist established a reputation as an ambience artist, blending mbalakh, r'n'b and urban pop. In August 2019, he confirmed the test by collaborating with hip-hop star Dip Doundou Guiss on the track "LNN". A few months later, he scored a hit with "Niamack Niamakhi", a track for which he invented a dance that would take Senegalese nightclubs by storm. The track appeared on his first album, Kone Yess, released in 2020. Bass Thioung toured extensively in Senegal, where his fiery performances quickly made him the darling of the local scene. Since then, he has released a string of singles, some of which have racked up over ten million views on Youtube: "Def Patt" (2020) (featuring Samba Puzzi), "Jaam La Woté Ak Ambiance" (2021), "j'm'en fous de ça" (2021), "Sweet Game" with Viviane Chidid (2021) and "Na Flash Yi Takk" (2022). His choreographed videos often go viral, becoming challenges on Tiktok. In 2022, he was selected as one of the African artists to sing on"On y est", the international anthem of the World Cup in Qatar.
