Bear Hands are an indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York who rose to prominence in 2014 with the release of their single 'Giants' which was a top ten hit in Billboard's Alternative Rock listings. The band were formed in 2006 by singer/guitarist Dylan Rau and guitarist Ted Feldman after the two men met at the Wesleyan University in Connecticut. They were joined by bass player Val Loper and drummer TJ Orscher, both of whom had played with Rau and Feldmen in previous bands. They promoted themselves through social media and through their lively blog posts built a reputation around New York as an emerging talent. Their debut album 'Burning Bush Supper Club' was released in 2010 and began to build an audience for the band. The follow-up album 'Distraction' was released in 2014 preceded by 'Giants' and this began to establish the band's distinctive musical style. Their third album 'You'll Pay for This' was released in 2016 and is the last album to feature Feldman's guitar playing. Feldman quit the band in 2018 to pursue a new musical direction and Bear Hands now continue as a three-piece.
