Beginner, known as Absolute Beginner until 2003, are the Hamburg hip-hop greats Jan Delay, Denyo and DJ Mad, who have been making music together since the early nineties. They started out with a larger line-up under the still English name Absolute Beginners, until they switched to German and released their socially critical debut EP Gotting in 1994 under the band name Absolute Beginner, followed by their debut album Flashnizm (1996). in 1998, their hit album Bambule saw the light of day, featuring singles such as "Rock On", "Liebes Lied", "Hammerhart" and "Füchse". Bambule reaches number 12 in the German charts and goes gold. Their next album Blast Action Heroes (2003) is even more successful in the charts and climbs straight to the top of the German charts as well as number 3 in the Austrian and 13 in the Swiss charts. The Beginner go on a 7-year hiatus and celebrate their live comeback at the Berlin Festival in 2011. in 2016, they released the album Advanced Chemistry, which took them to number 1 in the German and Austrian charts and number 2 in the Swiss charts.
