Benjamin Gibbard is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist known best as front man of the alternative pop band Death Cab for Cutie and one half of duo The Postal Service. In 2012, he released a solo album titled 'Former Lives' which peaked at number seven on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart, number eight on the Alternative Albums Chart and number eleven on the Top Rock Albums Chart. 'One Fast Move Or I'm Gone: Music from Kerouac's Big Sur', a collaboration with Jay Farrar with lyrics taken from the 1962 novel 'Big Sur' by Jack Kerouac, went to number 50 on the Top Rock Chart. Born in the state of Washington, Gibbard formed a band called Pinwheel in the 1990s and recorded under the name ¡All-Time Quarterback! His songs with various outfits can be heard on television shows including 'Veronica Mars', 'Fun With Dick and Jane', 'Friday Night Lights', and 'Quantico'. He was married for a time to 'New Girl' star Zooey Deschanel.
