Benjamin Schoos

Also known as Miam Monster Miam, Belgian singer, songwriter and producer Benjamin Shoos was born in Seraing on December 16, 1977. With a passion for music, he wrote his first songs at the age of 14 and played drums on the rock records he discovered, before taking up the guitar on his own. Starting in 1998 with When I Was a Ninja, he opened his own record label under the name Miam Monster Miam, which he expanded steadily until 2010 with Femme Plastique, after setting up his own label Freaksville Records in 2006 and composing the song "Copycat", which was chosen to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow the same year, sung by Patrick Ouchène. Teaming up with lyricist Jacques Duvall, he launched his own label in 2012 with the album China Man vs Chinagirl, which was released in many countries and featured contributions from Lætitia Sadier (Stereolab) and Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders). The album's success earned him the Octave for French Song Album of the Year and the Octave for Artist of the Year in 2013. He then embarked on an extensive tour that saw him defend his musical universe as far afield as Asia. The following year in 2014, he released no less than two EPs, Une Dernière Danse (with Lætitia Sadier) and Visiter la Lune (featuring a duet with Alain Chamfort), as well as an album, Beau Futur. The pace continued unabated in the following years, with soundtracks for documentaries and live recordings. After Doubt in My Heart in 2020, he released The Love Note in 2021.
