Benny the Butcher

Benny the Butcher - born Jeremie Damon Pennick on November 27, 1984, in Buffalo, New York - is a rapper who balances his successful solo career with his membership in the hip-hop collectives Griselda and Black Soprano Family. Initially releasing music under the stage name B.E.N.N.Y., he made his debut with the Tana Talk mixtape in 2004, followed by B.E.N.N.Y. vs. Lil Wayne in 2007. By 2016, he had released 16 additional EPs and adopted a new alias, Benny the Butcher. After teaming up with DJ Green Lantern for the collaborative project Butcher on Steroids in 2017, Benny the Butcher released his debut album, Tana Talk 3, in 2018. The album featured appearances by several fellow members of Griselda Records, including Conway the Machine. Two years later, he returned with a more commercially successful release, Burden of Proof, which charted at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and sold nearly 20,000 copies during its first week. A Top 10 hit on the UK Hip Hop and R&B Albums Chart, Burden of Proof earned rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic and paved the way for his third full-length effort, Tana Talk 4, in 2022. Prior to the record's release, Benny the Butcher released "Johnny P's Caddy," a collaboration with J. Cole that debuted at number 14 on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. Entirely produced by The Alchemist and Hit-Boy, his major-label debut Everybody Can't Go came out in 2024 via Def Jam Records. Following the low-key Summertime Butch in 2024, the same year saw the release of Stabbed & Shot 2, his second collaboration with rapper and producer 38 Spesh, featuring guests like Busta Rhymes, OT the Real, Dave East & Klass Murda, Ransom and Elcamino.
