Beto Guedes

Beto Guedes is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. His full name is Alberto de Castro Guedes, and he was born on August 13, 1951, in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. He got his start in music as a teenager, playing in several rock bands in his town. At the age of 18, he participated in the V Singers International Festival. After playing with legendary bands Clube da Esquina and 14 Bis, he finally recorded his first album in 1977, titled A Página do Relâmpago Elétrico. The album was a surprising hit, and it was followed the next year by Amor de Índio. The album’s title track became one of Beto Guedes’ most successful songs. His success would continue in 1979 with the release of his third album Sol de Primavera. The album’s title track “Sol de Primavera,” with its lilting melody and Beatles-tinged psychedelia, was a smash success for Beto Guedes, and very quickly became one of his signature songs. “Sol de Primavera” even became the theme song for the popular TV show Marina in 1980. Beto Guedes continued on with a prolific career throughout the 80s, refining his sound with each release. His 1986 album Alma de Borracha gained him his first gold record. In the 90s, he released the album Andaluz (1991) and Dias de Paz (1998), the latter of which consisted of new versions of old songs. He returned in the early aughts with the live album 50 Anos ao Vivo (2002), which was followed by Em Algum Lugar in 2004 and Outros Clássicos - Beto Guedes ao Vivo in 2010.
