Big Fat Snake

Big Fat Snake is a Danish rock band best known for hit albums like 2003's One Night of Sin and 2006's Between the Devil and the Big Blue Sea. Before co-founding the group in 1990, bandmates Peter Viskinde and Anders Blichfeldt met during the late-1980s and performed together in the short-lived band Verners Verdensorkester. Joined by bassist Jacob Perbøll and drummer Holger Kølle, they formed Big Fat Snake in 1990, taking the band's name from the lyrics of Bob Dylan's hit song "Wiggle Wiggle." Their self-titled debut album was released in 1991, followed shortly thereafter by 1992's Born Lucky and 1994's Beautiful Thing. Big Fat Snake released five additional albums during the remainder of the 1990s and scored a national hit with 1996's "Big Boys in Red and White," which doubled as that year's fight song for the Danish football team. The group hit a new level of popularity with 2002's Play It by Ear, which charted at Number 2. One year later, One Night of Sin climbed to Number 1, sparking a commercial hot streak that included the chart-topping records More Fire (2004), Between the Devil and the Big Blue Sea (2006), and What Is Left Is Right (2009). Despite the newfound success, tensions between Viskinde and Blichfeldt steadily worsened. The two stopped working together after What Is Left Is Right's release, with Blichfeldt retaining rights to Nephew's name. In Viskinde's absence, the group maintained its reputation as one of Denmark's longest-running rock acts, hitting Number 3 with 2011's Come Closer and climbing to Number 2 with 2014's Idocrazy.
