Big Ocean (Korean: 빅오션) is a groundbreaking South Korean boy group formed under Parastar Entertainment. Comprising Lee Chan-yeon, Park Hyun-jin, and Kim Ji-seok, the trio debuted on April 20, 2024, coinciding with Korea's Day of Persons with Disabilities. Each member has varying levels of hearing loss and uses advanced technology, such as vibrating smartwatches and flashing monitors, to aid their performances. Before their debut, the members trained for two years, overcoming unique challenges. Lee, a former audiologist, underwent cochlear implant surgery; Park, a YouTuber and TV personality, combines an implant and a hearing aid; and Kim, an alpine skier, uses hearing aids. Despite their disabilities, the group records their songs in their own voices, with AI assistance for precise mixing. Big Ocean’s debut single, "Glow" (2024), a remake of H.O.T.'s "Hope" (1998), showcased their ability to inspire and innovate. Subsequent singles like "Blow" (2024) and "Slow" (2024), featuring Day6's Young K, reinforced their message of resilience, particularly supporting the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Their first mini-album, Follow, released in November 2024, includes the empowering track "Flow", filmed at the historic National Institute for Deaf Youth in Paris.
