Bill Carrothers

Born July 13, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, piano prodigy Bill Carrothers began playing piano at the age of 5 and by the age of 15, he was playing in jazz clubs. He briefly attended North Texas State University before relocating to New York City in 1988 and becoming a part of the local jazz scene there. He began working as a session musician for artists like Prince (on his project with The Family), Buddy DeFranco, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Konitz, Gary Peacock, Toots Thielemans, and many others. He began recording albums as a leader including The Blues and the Greys (1998), Swing Sing Songs (2000), Duets with Bill Stewart (2002), Ghost Ships (2002), Armistice 1918 (2003), Civil War Diaries (2004), Home Row (2008), Joy Spring (2009), Excelsior (2010), and Love and Longing (2012). As a live performer, Bill Carrothers has performed on stages all over the world including France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
