Bill Medley was at California State University when he first met Bobby Hatfield. Both magnificent singers, they started performing with the band The Paramours, but it was as the Righteous Brothers duo in 1965 that their careers really took off, achieving their first hit with Medley's song Little Latin Lupe Lu. Phil Spector's epic production of You've Lost That Loving Feeling in 1965 (including Cher on backing vocals) created one of the biggest hits of the era, followed by more major hits in a similar style, including Just Once In My Life, Ebb Tide and Unchained Melody. Medley's distinctive bass baritone voice was in demand after his split with Hatfield in 1968 when he initially started performing with a new partner Virgil Beckham. He went on to make a series of solo albums, such as Sweet Thunder, Right Here And Now and I Still Do - adopting a more country-influenced vocal style - through the 1980s. His voice also featured on various movie soundtracks, including Rambo 3, Just The Ten Of Us, The Last Boy Scout and Dirty Dancing, duetting with Jennifer Warnes on the song (I've Had) The Time Of My Life.
