The electro pop duo Blaqk Audio is a spin-off project from the US rock band AFI. Vocalist Davey Havok and keyboard player Jade Puget originally formed the band in 2001 but found their commitments to AFI prevented them from devoting appropriate resources to the project. The idea was put on hold for a few years until in 2006 the two friends decided to resurrect the idea and their debut album 'CexCells' was released in August 2007. Despite a mixed critical reception the album sold well enough to enter the Billboard 200 at number 18 with the only single from the album being the track 'Stiff Kittens'. It was to be a further five years before Havok and Puget released a follow up and the result was 'Bright Black Heaven'. The album's release had been delayed for a number of years to avoid clashing with the release of AFI material. The duo have steadily built up a following for their distinctive brand of electro pop and whilst mainstream chart success has eluded them, their first three albums all topped the US Dance Chart and spawned a number of club hits.
