Dealing in melodic breakdowns, energetic drops and pumping, anthemic crescendos, production team Blasterjaxx are born out of the big room house sound that developed in Holland in 2010, but carved their own signature sound built on gritty beats and colossal jolts of euphoria. Both Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf were born in The Hague, Netherlands and while Makhlaf grew up studying piano and listening to hip-hop, Jongkind was drawn to the local electronic music scene and started DJ-ing under the name Scalix and formed Blasterjaxx with another DJ friend. When Makhlaf started producing dance tracks on his laptop in his teens, he first became a fan of Jongkind's work and then a partner when the two were introduced by a mutual friend in 2010 and played their first gigs together in their home town. Their early track 'Reborn' caught the attention of influential DJ Laidback Luke in 2012 who released it through his Mixmash Records label and when their 'Koala' EP took off in 2013 the duo were signed to Tiƫsto's label and worked with the legendary DJ on a string of remixes. Growing from house parties and bar sets to touring the biggest clubs and festivals around the world, the pair also worked regularly with Hardwell, Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero and released big Latin-soaked club bangers including 'Mystica', 'You Found Me', 'Faith' and 'Collide'. Together they also started their label Maxximize Records, hosted their own weekly radio show and were named among the top 20 producers in the world by DJ Mag. Despite Makhlaf deciding to stop touring for health reasons, they continued to make hard, energetic, progressive EDM anthems and remain leading dance music stars in Europe.
