Blue Vamp

A short-lived French glam rock outfit, Blue Vamp released just one album and one single. Made up of Bernard Madelin, Jean-Pierre Buccolo (guitars), Helios Vidal (vocals), Jean-Pierre Bellanger (bass) and Stéphane Ficarelli (drums), Blue Vamp was formed in 1972, inspired by the glam rock then in vogue in England. In July 1973, the group went to London to record their only album of the same name, released under the Vamp Records label and distributed by Francis Dreyfus' label Les Disques Motors, which also featured Christophe, Jean-Michel Jarre, Alain Kan and Vince Taylor. Although the album failed to reach the radio charts, it was well received by the rock press and was one of the few French glam rock releases, alongside The Frenchies and Au Bonheur des Dames. 1974 saw the release of the single "Jolly Dolly", produced by Jean-Michel Jarre, before the musicians dispersed to other activities. Jean-Pierre Buccolo composes for Johnny Hallyday, Francis Cabrel and Renaud, in addition to a few solo albums; Bernard Madelin accompanies Jacques Higelin, then founds the group Gangster; Jean-Pierre Bellanger, who took part in actor Jean-Pierre Kalfon's group Kalfon Rock Chaud, died on January 22, 2014.
