Bobby Timmons was a jazz pianist, vibraphone player and composer who was closely associated with the soul jazz movement of the 1950s. Timmons played as sideman and band member with several jazz legends including Art Blakey, Chet Baker, Etta James, Sonny Stitt and both Nat and Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley. He succumbed to alcoholism and heroin addiction in 1974 having been flown back early from a Swedish tour with Clark Terry's band.
