With his swaggering bad boy attitude and frazzled, filthy 'gorestep' storms, Borgore became known as a provocative 'enfant terrible' after first emerging on the EDM scene in 2009, but went on to showcase his classical training and love of jazz. Born in Tel Aviv, Yosef Asaf Borger started learning the piano at the age of three and later attended the prestigious Thelma Yellin Music Academy where he took up the saxophone and composed big band jazz tunes. He also played drums in deathcore band Shabira, but after they split he had a musical epiphany when he saw dubstep pioneers Skream and Benga injecting electronic music with woozy trap struts, blazing breaks and screeching effects. Terming his music style as 'gorestep' and taking the DJ name Borgore, he made the tongue-in-cheek claim that he was the man who killed dubstep and sought to morph drum & bass with hip-hop bravado, thrashing heavy metal thunder and goofball samples and effects on his early mixtapes 'Ice Cream' and 'Gorestep's Most Hated'. Setting up his own Buygore label, he released popular EPs 'Delicious' in 2011 and 'Flex' in 2012 and remixed tracks for Britney Spears, MIA and Metallica, before teaming up with Miley Cyrus on single 'Decisions' and with Waka Flocka Flame on 'Wild Out'. His debut album 'NewGoreOrder' in 2014 was full of typically volcanic, banging dancefloor barrages, and featured actor Malcolm McDowell, his sister Yael and singer Dan Farber, while Borgore rapped about becoming president of Israel, dating porn stars and ruling the Hollywood party scene. He also became a leading festival performer and played with producer Tomba as the duo Alphamale Primates before changing direction completely and returning to the piano for his first instrumental jazz EP 'Adventures in Time' in 2018.
