BRADIO

The Japanese funk-rock band BRADIO was formed in 2010 by vocalist Takaaki Shingyoji, drummer Yuki Tanabe, guitarist Soichi Oyama, bassist Ryosuke Sakai, and guitarist Yudai Kitazawa. The group released a self-produced demo, "My Answer," in December 2010, followed by the acoustic single "You Take Me Away" in 2011 and an additional demo, "DANCE'N' SOUL," in early 2012. Kitazawa left the lineup in June 2012, turning BRADIO into a quartet. Diamond Pops, the band's first mini-album, was released in October 2013 and failed to chart. Its follow-up, Swipe Times, appeared one year later and reached Number 120, paving the way for BRADIO's impending success as a mainstream act. Power of Life, the band's full-length debut album, reached Number 22 in 2015 and produced a pair of singles, including the Number 47 hit "Flyers." The song "Hotel Alien" also reached Number 47 and doubled as the first single from 2017's Freedom, which marked the band's second album. BRADIO signed with Warner Music Japan and released 2018's YES, which reached Number 18 on the Oricon Albums chart. YES also featured the Top 40 singles "La Pa Paradise" and "Kirameki Dancin'," the latter of which hit Number 23. The band remained on Warner Music Japan's roster for one more album, Joyful Style, which charted at Number 19 upon its release in April 2021. Two years later, BRADIO released another Top 40 album, Dancehall Magic, which debuted at Number 21.
