BUCK-TICK are a five piece Japanese rock band who rose to prominence after being in the vanguard of the country's 'visual kei' movement - the name given to Japan's glam rock phenomenon which emerged during the late 1980s. During their career the band have evolved through various genres having begun life in the aftermath of punk with a fairly basic raw sound. The group then progressed into a darker more gothic style and even experimented with electronic music and dance along their musical journey. They have emerged as a musically capable band whose sound appeals to a broad spectrum of listeners. The band cite a wide range of influences which have shaped their music and give credit to artists such as David Bowie, XTC, The Beatles and many other English and American bands who have helped shape their music. In return many top Japanese bands have named BUCK-TICK as being an important musical influence during their own musical development. With 21 studio albums to their credit the band are one of Japan's most enduring rock acts and nearly all of the band's album releases have made the top ten in the Japanese charts.
