Camélia Jordana (born on September 15, 1992) is a French singer and actress of Algerian descent, who rose to stardom in 2009 after reaching 3rd place on the music competition TV show Nouvelle Star. Inspired by her mother, who was an amateur opera singer, Jordana studied piano and drama for 7 years. At the age of 16, she was selected to participate in the seventh season of Nouvelle Star, making it to the semi-finals and losing to Leila and Soan. Her appearance in the show helped Jordana land a record deal with Sony Music, which released her eponymous debut in 2010. The album, which spawned the hit “Non non non (Écouter Barbara),” sold more than 110,000 copies in a week and was certified platinum in her native France. Following her debut as supporting actress in the film La Stratégie de la poussette, Jordana released the Babx-produced Dans la Peau (2014), her long-awaited second album. Preceded by the single of the same name, the LP peaked at Number 15 on France’s SNEP chart. In 2017, she played the female protagonist in the film Le Brio, a role that earned her a César Award for Most Promising Actress. Jordana followed up with the politically charged Lost (2018), which found the artist protesting against police brutality and systemic racism. Despite its tepid chart performance, the album won a Victoires de la Musique award for Best World Music Album in 2019. The following year, she landed roles on Noémie Saglio’s Parents d'élèves and Emmanuel Mouret’s Les Choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait, and resumed her music career with the double album Facile x Fragile, released in 2021. The album spawned the Top 10 singles “Facile” and “Silence,” which hit Number 73 on the French Singles Chart. Also in 2021, Camélia Jordana teamed up with fellow singers Amel Bent and Vitaa for the collaborative album Sorøre.
