Founded in 1997 by the eminent double bassist Patrice Caratini, the Caratini Jazz Ensemble pays tribute to great names such as Louis Armstrong and Cole Porter, and explores music from elsewhere, whether world or contemporary. Darling Nellie Gray in 2000, De L'Amour et du Réel (dedicated to chanson réaliste in 2008) and the dyptic Latinidad (2009) and Chofé Biguine La (2011) are the band's highlights.
