Born into a musical family (his parents are a professional flautist and the Cambridge University director of music respectively), Robin Skinner - known as Cavetown - seemed destined for a career in music. Beginning at the age of 14 by posting a series of videos on YouTube featuring covers and original songs alongside vlogs detailing his daily life, Skinner found almost immediate success with his lyrics resonating with fans worldwide resulting in sold out residencies in London, Los Angeles and New York. He released two albums on Bandcamp, 'cavetown' (2015) and '16/04/16' (2016). Self-releasing his first full physical release 'Lemon Boy' in 2018, the album was a massive success. The collection of singles which followed, compiled into 'Animal Kingdom' saw Cavetown move into becoming a more collaborative entity, featuring contributions from the likes of spookyghostboy and Chloe Moriondo, and spawned his biggest hit to date - 'Boys Will Be Bugs'. Cavetown signed to Warner Music Group subsidiary Sire Records ahead of the release of new album 'Sleepyhead' in 2020.
