Initially a beauty queen, with the title of Miss Black Arizona in 1989, Ce Ce Peniston became a typical dance diva of the early 1990s, in the tradition of Crystal Waters. Her song "Finally " was one of the major hits of 1991, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard charts and No. 1 on the dance sales chart. her second hit, "We Got a Love Thang ", also appeared on the 1992 album Finally. Her subsequent albums were largely anecdotal, Ce Ce Peniston never regaining the aura of "Finally", of which she recorded an updated version in 2008.
