Celeste Carballo is an Argentine singer-songwriter. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 21, 1956, and gained prominence in the 1980s for her powerful voice and performances in the blues and hard rock genres. She started her music career as a performer in various bands, even singing as a backup vocalist for acts such as Argentine supergroup La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros and legendary singer-songwriter Palito Ortega. In 1982, she recorded her debut album Me Vuelvo Cada Día Más Loca, featuring original compositions as well as a couple of covers (including “Desconfío,” a blues by Argentine guitarist Pappo, who plays on Celeste Carballo’s cover). Over the course of the next decade, she continued releasing music, increasing her profile and establishing herself in the Argentine rock scene, collaborating with names such as Charly García, Fito Paez, and Andrés Calamaro. In 1993, she recorded Chocolate Inglés, an eclectic album that incorporated elements of jazz and tango into her trademark blues sound, earning an ACE Award for Best Rock Album of 1993. She continued breaking down barriers and releasing successful albums over the course of the 90s and 2000s. In 2016 she released ¡¡Se Vuelve Cada Día Más Loca... Por Amor Al Blues!!, a live album. It includes "Desconfío (En Vivo)," a powerful live performance of the Pappo track from her debut album.
