Born in Vitry-sur-Seine on May 24, 1952, Marc Cerrone, or simply under his stage name Cerrone, embodies disco the French way. Trained as a drummer, he collaborated with the group Kongas before achieving international success with the albums Love in C Minor (1976) and Supernature (1977), thanks to their respective titles. Composer of the soundtracks for the Brigade Mondaine films, he pursued his career around the world, maintaining his image as the precursor and "king of disco". When fashions change, his albums, numbered by volume, continue to sell via his Malligator label. These include Cerrone IV - The Golden Touch (1978), Cerrone V - Angelina (1979), Cerrone VII - You Are the One and Cerrone VIII - Back Track (1982). The DJ, drummer and producer, honored by samples from his successors, remains faithful to his style, which he evolves in line with technological advances. After the disco opera The Collector (1988), he remained in the news with the album X-Xex (1993) and Cerrone by Sinclar (2001), a compilation of remixes by Bob Sinclar. Other remix projects of his own follow alongside new originals and multiple compilations from the early years, such as the double remix album Addict (2012) and The Best of Cerrone Productions (2014). After the original Afro EP, Cerrone delivers the house album Red Lips (2016), then returns to the essence of his style in DNA (2020). In the wake of the disco revival, the artist remixes his repertoire in Cerrone by Cerrone (2022) and gives his classics an unprecedented orchestral layer in Cerrone Symphony (2025).
