Cevin Fisher

Kevin Fisher (October 26, 1963), better known by his stage name Cevin Fisher, is one of the most acclaimed American house music artists of the late 1990s. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, he began DJing as a teenager in his father's bar and then landed a residency at Newark's iconic Club Zanzibar. In the late 1980s, he relocated to New York, where he made a name for himself as a producer working at Arthur Baker's Shakedown Studios. After an encounter with fellow producer Danny Tenaglia, Cevin Fisher decided to embark on a solo career that began in the late 1990s with tracks like "House Is a Feeling" and "Hands on Love," both heavily inspired by early house pioneers Tony Humphries and Larry Heard. In 1998, he jumped to international fame with "The Freaks Come Out," an anthemic banger that quickly attained classic status within the house music scene. Later that year, Cevin Fisher scored another hit with "(You Got Me) Burning Up," featuring vocals by Loleatta Hathaway. Over the next subsequent decades, he toured and collaborated with some of the biggest names in electronic music and became the in-house DJ at Pacha NYC. Since 2014, he runs his own label Import Tracks.
