Charles Pasi

A songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player and performer, Charles Pasi has been offering a wide musical palette since his debut in 2006, ranging from vocal jazz to acoustic and electric blues, rock and gospel-influenced soul. Born to an Italian father and a French mother in Paris on February 8, 1984, he sang in a gospel choir as a child and studied jazz at a music school in Rome after the baccalaureate, before returning to Paris to study at the Centre d'informations musicales (CIM) and the École Alta. Revealed by the Tremplin du festival Blues sur Seine, where he won two prizes, Charles Pasi released his first self-produced EP, Mainly Blue, in 2006, followed by a performance at the Memphis International Blues Challenge, where he finished runner-up. After appearances in the films Actrices (2007) by Valéria Bruni-Tedeschi, in which he also collaborated on the music, and Cinéman (2009) by Yann Moix, he unveiled his second EP Uncaged in 2009, which gave its name to the debut album released in 2011, featuring saxophonist Archie Shepp on two tracks. The album, which peaked at No. 129, was followed in 2014 by Sometimes Awake, which reached No. 22 and offered a similar blend of jazz, blues and soul. In 2017, his third album, Bricks, was released on the famous Blue Note label - a first for a French artist. It was promoted by a tour as far afield as Asia, before its successor, Zebra, is released in 2020 on the same label. Back on stage and composing after the Covid-19 pandemic, the eclectic musician signs the album Adamas (2025), including a collaboration with Queen Omega and another with his sister Clara Pasi.
