A radiant raï singer, Cheba Maria was born Maria Zine in Casablanca on November 13 1978. She developed a passion for singing at an early age, and her success in a high-school singing competition confirmed her career. She moved to Toulouse in 1998, the year she released her first single, a duet with Cheb Rachid, which sold well, particularly in Morocco, where her audience was growing. In 1999, she released her first album, Nta Weld Bladi, and made a name for herself on the raï scene, with her crystalline voice and traditional compositions, blending Algerian raï and Moroccan folk music. She followed this up with a string of singles and collaborations. Her breakthrough came with the song " Mon bled ", featured on the Raï'n'B Fever compilation, in collaboration with Rohff and Mohamed Lamine. She received a gold disc for this single from EMI Music Maghreb in 2003. 2005 saw the release of Mon amour, produced by Dj Youssef and signed to EMI Music Maghreb. In 2008, Ould Baldi was released. Some of her videos exceed hundreds of thousands of views, including "Célibataire " (2005), "Machi Sahl" (2014) and "Hkayti " (2018). In 2011, she released her first Best Of, featuring 37 tracks. She also collaborates with Kamelancien and Marseille hip-hop group Psy 4 de la Rime. In July 2022, the Berkaniate album was released, and on December 31, 2022, she wished her many fans a Happy New Year with the "Nouveau départ " video.
