It was Kaoma's huge hit, the mythical and torrid "Lambada", that first introduced the general public to these two young children dancing in the Franco-Brazilian group's video clip. The video, broadcast as a "summer hit" on French television in 1989, launched the careers of Chico, real name Washington Oliveira, born February 20, 1977 in Porto Seguro, and Roberta de Brito, born April 27, 1979 in Brasilia. Buoyed by the goodwill generated by their collaboration with Kaoma, they went on to form a duo, producing a number of tracks, including the hit "Frente a Frente", but split up in 1993 before returning to normal life. Chico became a pastor and Roberta a veterinarian.
