Born in Melun (Seine-et-Marne), France, on October 30, 1982, Chimène Badi's career has been marked by many successes since her participation in Popstars 2002. Although she didn't win the TV talent show on which she first made a name for herself, Chimène Badi nonetheless aroused the interest of viewers and record companies, which led to her signing with the AZ label, affiliated to Universal. Her debut album Entre Nous (2003) catapulted her to No. 4 in the sales charts, and in just a handful of albums she established herself as one of the new vocalists of the moment. Following the huge success of Dis-Moi Que Tu M'aimes (2004), which hit number one on its release, her popularity continued to soar with Le Miroir (2006, no. 3). In 2010, under the shortened name of Chimène, the singer spiced up her style with soul sounds on Laisse les Dire (#4), recorded in New York. The following year, she confirmed this neo-soul trend with the covers album Gospel & Soul (No. 7), followed by a second live recording, then returned to French chanson in 2015 for her sixth opus Au-Delà des Maux (No. 6). In 2017, she joined Julie Zenatti's Méditerranéennes (Ici ou Là-Bas) project. Despite failing to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest the following year, the singer returned with her seventh album Chimène (2019, no. 25), from which the track "Là-haut " (no. 14) is taken. In 2023, she devoted the next album to the repertoire of Édith Piaf with Chimène Chante Piaf, before returning to her preferred style on Gospel & Soul: la Voix et l'Âme (2024).
