Cho PD

Cho Joong-hoon, better known by his stage name Cho PD, was born on January 27, 1976, and is a renowned South Korean record producer, rapper, and founder of Stardom Entertainment. He first rose to fame in 1998, debuting after gaining traction online. As a key figure in the Korean hip-hop scene, he produced music for his own crew, Stardom, and supported the early careers of prominent artists like Psy, Verbal Jint, and Dok2. Cho PD is credited with pioneering online music distribution in Korea. Cho PD released a series of successful albums throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including In Stardom (1999), ChoPD.Net / Best In East (2000), and Stardom in Future Flow (2001). After a successful run, he briefly retired in 2010 but made a comeback in 2011 with two studio albums, State of the Art and Art of Business. In 2018, Cho PD faced legal troubles when he was found guilty of fraud, involving undisclosed assets from Topp Dogg's 2015 Japan tour, resulting in a suspended two-year prison sentence. Despite this setback, Cho PD reinvented himself, launching ChoCo Entertainment in 2019, which focuses on virtual AI-based K-pop idols. In 2023, he announced a new K-pop project, ChoCo, consisting of multiple sub-units.
