Chungha has gone from K-pop trainee to worldwide sensation in just a few short years, making waves in Korean television along the way. She was born in February 1996 in South Korea but spent much of her early life in Dallas, Texas before heading back to her homeland to become a singer. Once home, she auditioned for YG Entertainment and briefly trained under JYP Entertainment before landing at the agency that would launch her career in earnest, MNH Entertainment. She was placed on the reality talent show 'Produce 101' and finished in fourth place with the group I.O.I and their mini-album 'Chrysalis' (2016). The group went on to release the single 'Whatta Man', which peaked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart. Later that year Chungha and fellow I.O.I member Im Na-young had a cameo on the Korean version of 'Entourage' and Chungha became a regular cast member on dance reality show 'Hit the Stage'. A couple of collaborations followed later in the year, and in late December it was confirmed that Chungha would launch a solo career once she was done with promoting I.O.I material. Her first single was 'Week', launched in April 2017, with her debut EP, 'Hands On Me' following in June and reaching number eight in the Korean charts. Since then Chungha's EPs 'Offset' (2018), 'Blooming Blue' (2018) and 'Flourishing' (2019) have all made the Gaon Music Chart top 10, while 'Offset' and 'Flourishing' made numbers 13 and seven in the Billboard World Chart. Likewise, she has had a string of top ten hits with her singles, including a number one in the K-pop Hot 100 with 'Gotta Go'.
