Chuy Lizarraga

Chuy Lizárraga, born Jesús Cruz Lizárraga on November 9, 1976, in Sinaloa, Mexico, is a beloved banda singer known as "La Cara Alegre de la Banda" for his charismatic performances and upbeat style. Growing up in Mazatlán, he developed a love for music early, often listening to the radio and later working in a local nightclub to fund his entry into a singing competition. His fourth-place finish earned him a spot with the band Los Pillos, kicking off a career that saw him perform with renowned regional Mexican groups like Sensación de Coyotitan, Banda Aramburos, and La Original Banda El Limón. In 2004, Chuy took a major step by founding his own group, Chuy Lizárraga y Su Banda Tierra Sinaloense, releasing hits like "Quédate conmigo," "Partido en dos," and "Relación clandestina." His discography includes popular albums such as Pistear pistear (2010), No es culpa tuya (2015), El favorito (2018), and La tabla del uno (2020), leading to multiple award nominations, including at Premios Lo Nuestro and Premios de la Radio. Honored with a star on the Mazatlán Walk of Fame, Chuy Lizárraga returned in 2022 with a tribute album to Mexican legends Antonio Aguilar and Joan Sebastian, releasing a second volume in 2023.
