Schlager vocal duo Cindy & Bert - formed in Völklingen, Saarland, Germany in 1965 – were best known for their hit single "Immer wieder Sonntags" (1973) and their 1974 Eurovision Song Contest entry, “Die Sommermelodie”. Comprised of Jutta Gusenberger (born January 26, 1948) and Norbert Berger (born September 12, 1945), the duo began performing together as Cindy & Bert in 1965, and two years later, they were married. Signing to the Cornet label in 1969, they began releasing a series of singles including “Saturday Morning”, “Cäsar Und Cleopatra”, and “Rot War Der Mohn”. One of their most unique singles found the duo covering Neil Diamond’s “Holly Holy” backed with a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” (retitled “Der Hund von Baskerville”). The duo’s 1972 single "Geh die Straße" was their first Top 40 hit, reaching Number 36 on the German Singles chart. Their next single, “Immer wieder Sonntags” (1973), was their most successful single, reaching Number 3 on the chart. Cindy & Bert participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their song "Die Sommermelodie". However, the song ended up in a four-way tie for last. They had several more Top 40 hits including “Ich komm’ bald wieder”, which reached Number 10. Their successful streak ended in the mid-‘70s although they continued to release singles and albums up until the late 1980s. Cindy & Bert divorced in 1988 and they pursued different careers in the music business. They reunited in the 1990s and focused on the nostalgia market, Norbert Berger died on July 14, 2012.
