Cleopatra are an all-girl R&B group hailing from Manchester, England. Comprised of sisters Cleo, Yonah, and Zainam Higgins, the band made their official debut in 1998 with Comin’ Atcha! The album featured “Cleopatra’s Theme,” their first Top 5 hit single, and was certified silver in the UK. The single was also released in the US via Madonna’s Maverick Records and peaked at Number 16 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. That year, they were invited to be the opening act for the Spice Girls on their Spiceworld Tour and also performed at the Vatican Christmas Carol Concert, with their rendition of “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night.” Steppin’ Out (2000), recorded in the US with a list of top producers, received favorable reviews but didn’t sell as well as its predecessor. “Come and Get Me” was the only single off the album that charted, reaching Number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. After parting ways with Warner due to creative differences, Cleopatra remained inactive until 2005, when they reappeared for a one-off performance of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby, One More Time” on ITV1. The trio would reappear once again in 2009 for a comeback show at the Embassy in London.
