Clothilde

Real name Élisabeth Beauvais, the 1960s singer Clothilde is best remembered for her cult hits "Fallait pas écraser la queue du chat" and "Saperlipopette". Daughter of writer and radio personality Robert Beauvais and actress Gisèle Parry, she was born on February 22, 1948 and made her name in 1967 with the psychedelic, modern "Fallait pas écraser la queue du chat", her first record for the Vogue label, arranged by Éric Demarsan. Released on a now rare and sought-after EP, it was followed the same year by "Saperlipopette " and three other songs with equally impertinent lyrics, set to extravagant musical assemblages. Although the performer's recording legacy is fairly limited, her work, which has delighted sixties pop fans and collectors alike, appears on a number of compilations, and in 2013 was the subject of the anthology Clothilde - French Swinging Mademoiselle, published by Born Bad Records and including her Italian versions and a previously unreleased track with Les Charlots, "Des garçons faciles".
